The script is written

Recently a friend called me and she seemed filled with hopelessness after listening to a talk about the script being already written.  "What is the purpose then of anything", she asked.  This statement "The Script is written" misinterpreted by the ego can indeed seem to be disheartening.  Well, I'm here to share with you that God would NEVER leave his children in a hopeless condition.

The Script is indeed written....written long ago and healed.  It is over.  However, in time we seem to be replaying it over and over like an old movie.  As lesson 158 tells us...

"Time is a trick; a sleight of hand, a vast illusion in which figures come and go as if by magic. Yet there is a plan behind appearances which does not change. The script is written. When experience will come to end your doubting has been set. For we but see the journey from the point at which it ended, looking back on it, imagining we make it once again; reviewing mentally what has gone by."

Think of it this way.  Time is indeed a trickster but Holy Spirit can use anything for the purpose of the atonement…even time.  From ego’s linear point of view, there always seems to be something to do, something to change or fix.  Only problem is you can't do, change or fix something that does not exist in reality.  That is why there is no order of difficulty in miracles because nothing always equals nothing.  We as an ego believe that nothing is something and that something has degrees of difficulty.  It is packaged and defined in seemingly endless forms.  To Holy Spirit, the only purpose of time is healing /undoing your belief in it and thus awakening one to the reality of who they really are in Christ.

The scrip is written...there is nothing to do, but there is much to undo.  This is the message of A Course in Miracles.  The dream is a miscreation.  You can't change it because in reality it does not exist.  How can you change nothingness?  But we also get the reassurance from Jesus that "Nothing real can be threatened.  Nothing unreal exists.  Herein lies the Peace of God."  God’s script is reality, it is  eternal, unchangeable and acknowledges who you really are and what is true.

There seems to be a bit of confusion surrounding "doing" and "undoing."   The statement "The script is written" is never frightening to one who knows that to trust God, through HS is to choose their perfect happiness.  From ego’s perception this is relinquishing control and that is terrifying to the ego.  Within the dream the out-picturing of the world we see is only a reflection of the mind and can be "undone" by choosing truth over illusion.   This IS threatening to the ego that wants control and certainly does not want its undoing.  In trusting HS the lessons learned do not need be repeated again.  So the "script" is undone by Holy Spirit and time collapses.  Time will continue to collapse with each lesson learned until the dream completely disappears in our awareness.   What we made via the ego can be undone by forgiveness and aligning the mind with Holy Spirit.
As Jesus teaches in the Urtex, “We said before that the miracle abolishes time. It does this by a process of COLLAPSING it. It thus abolishes certain INTERVALS within it. It does this, however, WITHIN the larger temporal sequence.”
Here is a simple example of how this may look in the world.
This morning while walking to a friends house the sidewalks were very icy.  It rained in Boston last night and by morning all the water had frozen.  About halfway there I had doubts about whether I would make it there at all.  But i felt guided to continue and arrived safely, even though i almost fell several times.  As I was about to leave his house I received strong guidance to take a different route home.  It was a longer route but the guidance was clear.  I took it and the trip was considerably easier.  I wonder what would have happened if I had not followed the guidance given but rather followed my ego's desire to get home faster.  I will never know but perhaps the script was undone a bit.  Perhaps I avoided a fall or injury... another lesson in teaching me to follow the guidance of spirit over the ego.   As Jesus teaches..."Trials are but lessons which you failed to learn presented once again, so where you made a faulty choice before you now can make a better one, and thus escape all pain which what you chose before has brought to you." The script is written but it can be undone at anytime by making the choice for God instead of ego.  God's script is certain and it is eternal, unchangeable and the giver of your perfect happiness.

Always remember that there is nothing "to do" but much to "undo" for therein lies salvation.  Just about every lesson in the workbook is based on undoing, not doing anything.  In our willingness to trust something outside our egoic framework we let go of what we have come to believe as real and are open to allow something else to enter our awareness...it is fresh, new and clean and unattached to anything of the past (which is the ego’s only point of reference).  Find peace in the "unknowing" by trusting God.  Trust is an acquired skill and is very similar to learning to ride a two wheel bike.  At first you are very hesitant and uncertain that the bike will hold you up.  However, after several clumsy attempts you acquire a "knowing" that the bike will support you.  You have evidence, you've experienced the truth about bike-riding.  It is the same in trusting God.  With trusting comes experiences that validate its truth and then you just know it is the wise thing to do.   Bottom line is that the only way to learn how to trust God is by trusting God.

Be comforted in knowing it is not through your efforts that salvation is accomplished.  Salvation is already a reality.  But we always have a choice in whether or not to accept it.  That is the free will given to us in our creation by the Father.  We can follow the script we made with the ego and believe it is real or choose again to see as the Father would have us see and open our minds to our reality as the Son of God.   The script may be written but our perception of the dream is up to us.

The last section of the last Chapter of the text of ACIM is titled "Choose Once Again."  It is Jesus' final words to us and a message I believe he placed there for a reason.  I read it again and again.  It is quite powerful.  As Jesus says in it..."You always choose between your weakness and the strength of Christ in you.  And what you choose is what you think is real.  Simply by never using weakness to direct your actions, you have given it no power.  And the light of Christ in you is given charge of everything you do."

The world you see is not a cause of anything, it is an effect of believing in an imaginary thought system that does its best to convince you that it is real.  Remember that it is no match for the power of God and at any instant you can leave the desert and return home.  You need only choose again.  God's script is certain!  You are his Son with whom he is well pleased.  You are not a body born to suffer and die.  You are eternal.  You are the light of the world.

blessings and love, Lana : )
